The Postcon Project

People

The Postcon mastermind and jedi master.

Manuel Vilhena

Manuel is the founder of Postcon and Programme Leader for all the Postcon Education courses.

Since 1993 he has been active in promoting the ‘Post-Contemporary’ concept and other far-fetched ideas. These, initially were Art oriented, but over the years became Education focused.

Some are contained in his art book Do you speak Jewellery?© (1998), a seminal text for Contemporary Arts & Crafts theory and in its remastered edition Do you speak jewellery? 2 (2015).
His book Miss Amelia (2013), is a tale that, besides following Amelia in her voyages, explains the main ideas behind his thinking and concepts.

He has been teaching extensively since 1998 in private and public institutions around the world including, amongst others, the Royal College of Art, London, the Hiko Mizuno College, Tokyo, the Silpakorn University, Bangkok, the ARCO school, Lisbon, the Shenkar College in Tel-Aviv, and the Ulster University in Northern Ireland. He was workshop leader at the Salzburg Summer Academy for two years and held a Professorship at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Norway, for four years.

He is an entertaining lecturer and most of what he says is true.
